I opened my eyes warily as the warm sunshine came in through the open window of the small cottage that Edward and I had been staying in since that night. Carlisle had reserved it for us so that we could stay here for two weeks. It was raised on a hill with a sweeping beach towards the end. We were on a peaceful lake, where we were the only ones. I looked up to the window and Edward was standing there looking out over the lake that our bedroom faced. A gentle breeze blew in, blowing his copper hair back.

He looked over when he heard me yawn and smiled my favourite crooked smile "You're up. How were your dreams?" I could tell that it still bothered him that he couldn't hear my thoughts. This comforted me though.

"Peaceful. They were all about you." I smiled and got out of the bed. The floor was cold surprisingly, considering the warm sunshine pooling there. I walked to his side and rest my head against him. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close.

"No Jacob?" he asked.

"No Jacob. Just you and me." I smiled and stood up on my tiptoes to kiss his cheek. He turned and took my face in his free hand and kissed me back, his cold lips gentle on my still very soft ones. He still hadn't changed me yet, and I knew that he wasn't planning on it really, but he would hold up his end of the bargain even if I forced him to with the weapon I had discovered in June. He pulled away just in time, I had forgotten to breathe once again. Every time he kissed me still it took my breath away.

"I still take your breath away don't I?"

"Yes." I spluttered. But then I smiled and leaned into him, wanting him to hold me as tightly as he could without hurting me, for him to give me what I wanted. For him to give me the two things that I wanted.


Later that day about noon we were sitting on the sloping beach that was all ours. I watched as rainbows glanced off of his beautiful and pale skin. He was smiling his crooked smile as he suddenly stood and removed his shirt and jeans. This surprised me, but then I understood why he did so. He walked out into the water until it was at his waist and turned to hold out his arms for me to go to him. I smiled and stood, undoing the buttons of my shirt to reveal the bikini top I wore underneath. I slid my shorts off and ran out into the water to join him. The second I was there he wrapped his arms around me and fell backwards into the water.

I took in water, and brought my head back to the surface before I swallowed it. When he came back up, now on his knees with me standing up he smiled. "Sorry Bella, I couldn't resist."

"Couldn't you have tried?" I asked.
